Tesla Motors’ Elon Musk on David Letterman

A business acquaintence sent me this link to Tesla Motors’ Elon Musk on David Letterman the other night.

My take, for what it’s worth:  This is great show business, and as an advocate, it’s good to see EVs promoted in such a prominent venue.  But that was unfair in so many respects.  I’m no fan of GM, but give me a break.  Instead of referring to the Volt as “crap” because of its “40-mile range,” wouldn’t it have been more responsible to mention that the Volt’s a PHEV, and therefore, after the first 40 electric-only miles (sufficient to handle ALL the driving needs of 78% of Americans), it has hundreds of miles of range from its gasoline engine if needed?

It’s hard for me to respect people who use their celebrity to mislead a huge audience deliberately like that.
